What is a navicular fracture?
Navicular stress fractures are a common foot injury in athletes
and stress fractures tend to occur in athletes such as soccer
players, basketball, sprinters and high jumpers. However, even
jogging can cause Navicular fractures. The pain is every so slight
in the mid foot beyond the ankle or even over the Narvicular bone
and the pain will get worse during activity. Swelling may occur.
The Narvicular fracture can be sometimes be seen on x-ray, but
usually needs a CT scan. A short leg cast and crutches helps to
heal this problem, but some patients will require surgery.
