There are 2 oxygen sensors. The first is just after the exhaust manifold before it goes into the catalytic converter. The second is after the catalytic converter.

i just LEARNED THAT THERE ARE TWO O2 CENSORS ON A 99' FORD ESCORT THEY ARE EASY TO CHANGE. ONE IS RIGHT BELOW THE CAD CONVERTER AND THE SECOND ONE IS LOCATED ON THE MANIFOLD. JUST DISSCONNECT THE WIRES AND UNSCREW THE O2 CENSOR. THEN REPLACE IT.
