Hi,

I changed the pcv valve on my 95 magna (auto) today, and hopefully I can describe it's location for everyone (although, I believe that there are some parts that differ in the 95 models and I am unsure if they differ from auto to manual, but this is where it is in my car and how I replaced it...):

When you look at the engine, towards the back and slightly to the left there is a hose connected to the engine and there should be what looks like a bolt between the hose and the engine. This 'bolt' is actually part of the pcv valve.

If you take the clamp off the hose and pull the hose off the fitting (it may take a bit of working to get it off coz the fitting is inside the hose up to about an inch), you can then use a spanner to unscrew the 'bolt' (it isn't actually a bolt, but has sides like one in order to undo it). PS don't remove the hose clamp completely from the hose, just loosen it and move it back further on the hose that way all you have to do to put the clamp back on is slide it back over where the fitting is inside the hose and tighten it up. This bit that you have unscrewed and removed from the engine that is only about 2 inches or so long is the pcv valve. Put the new one in and replace the hose (if the old hose is a bit 'fatter' where it was on the old valve, then if there is enough hose (ie it won't be pulled too tight if it is trimmed) you should trim it a bit so 'fresh' hose is now connected to the fitting), then put the hose on the end of the pcv valve, move the clamp back in place and tighten it (if it is a screw driver tightened clamp then don't do it so tight that it cuts into the hose - just do it tight enough that it isn't going to come off the fitting) and presto you have replaced the pcv valve. Too easy.

It is a very simple job to do and can save you heaps of $ to do it yourself. My suggestion is go to an auto parts supplier and ask for one, giving them all the details of your car etc. Compared to getting it done professionally using genuine parts, you could save yourself up to 80% or so if you can get the right fitting non-genuine part and do the job yourself. IMO it is money down the drain for such a simple job that is just about as easy and yet less messy than replacing an air filter.
