I have a '96 Camry and I believe they are similar..Look at the top of the engine at the passenger side There is a black hose attached....Remove this hose and pry the PVC out,[wiggle it out] Shake it. If it rattles,it is probably okay,but if it does not,spray some WD 40 or carb cleaner in it and shake it so it rattles.Re-install it ..Good Luck [it worked for me] Z-Man
