right on the front valve cover, it plugs into a rubber grommet.

This is not correct if you are referring to the 3.8 engine. It is located under a sensor that is located on the front of the intake manifold (towards the passenger side fender). Not at all obvious and definitely NOT in either valve cover. Easy to replace once you find it. Look for the wires coming out of the top of a black plastic squarish housing. Be careful when you twist the housing, the pcv valve is spring-loaded and you don't want to drop the spring into the engine compartment. It took me about an hour to find it and 2 minutes to replace it. No tools needed.
