You should be able to find the vin in at least two places. At the front edge of the dashboard on the driver side, visible from outside; and on a plate attached to the driver door frame.
The VIN number for the car will identify the motor.

Unfortunately, a 1941 Chevrolet may not have a VIN number! American auto manufacturers didn't start really using a VIN number until the early 60s, and earlier cars were simply marked with a production serial number, if at all.

The VIN will tell you. There are lot's of VIN decoders on the internet. Get your 18 digit number and input it into the decoders.
