Behind the drivers side rear wheel. It has a black vented black cover over it. It is white plastic and costs about $125.00 at Nissan.
vacume by pass cut out valve nissan 1.8 sentra
evap vacuum cut valve bypass valve
If it is like my 2001 Nissan Sentra, there is a cover behind the drivers side tire. It bolts on in the front and 2 quills click into the charcoal cannister. The cover comes off and the white plastic piece is the vacuum cut valve bypass valve. Nissan price $140.00-Wilton Nissan. I also did as recommended, and replaced the valve on the cannister, and the solenoid -the bolt on the canister broke as is evidently common. Replace cannister. Whole job (I did the labor) about $600.00
I got the same problem. Replace the cutoff valve for $100 for parts.

This usually indicates a faulty Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vacuum Cut Valve/Bypass Valve.1. Verify battery voltage to the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve on the Black/White wire with the key ON.2. Verify the Green/White ground wire for the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve is good all the way to the ECM. The Green/White wire goes to terminal 117 on the ECM.3. Verify the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve is closed (can not blow through it by mouth) when the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve is de-energized.4. Verify the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve opens (can blow through it by mouth) with the valve powered up and grounded.5. Check the EVAP vacuum cut valve to verify it allows flow only one way.
It is under rear in back of xterra under the spare tire next to evap can.
I am looking for diagram of the engine to replace a pcv valve. 2002 Nissan Sentra 1.8
Troublecode P1490 means: EVAP Vacuum Cut Valve Bypass Valve Circuit Malfunction
Discard the valve all together and plug the vacuum line as if there was no bypass valve
