You charge the A/C Sys. on the High Side.. The valves have caps.. Some are Red and Blue, Red being the High Side.. Some just Light blue but on top of the cap It'll have a "L" and "H".. if the car has no caps, Just look at both A/C valves.. The one with the Bigger Coupler is the High side...
It is dangerous to refill an ac system on the high side with the engine/pump running. The refill can of refrigerant can explode in your hand. It would be wise to recharge system using the low side, keeping the refill can upright during the process.
