most likely the oil tank The tank under the seat is your rear air box for your rear air filter, there is a similar one under the gas tank for your front air filter.
The air filter on my 2003 VL1500 is under the dash and 'false' tank. You have to take it all off and the air box literally sits under the speedo/dash.
It is pretty easy to replace the air filter in a 2005 Suzuki Aerio. Remove and open the air intake manifold, remove the old air filter, put in the new filter and reattach the air intake manifold.

If the motorcycle is liquid cooled (like the Suzuki Intruder VS800) it will need water and anti-freeze and will have a radiator. Air cooled motorcycles do not need water. Some air cooled motorcycles have a oil cooler (like the Suzuki Intruder VS1400) which looks like a small radiator, but not many.
The cabin air filter on a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara is located below the glove compartment. It is changed by unscrewing the cover, taking out the old filter, and installing a new filter.

VERY likely your fuel mix is too lean. Adjust the air/fuel mix settings and it should fix it.
