It depends on your own tastes and preferences. If you are looking for a warm beach, Cancun, Cozumel, the Mayan Riviera, Los Cabos or Puerto Vallarta would be your best choice. If you look for small towns with a Bohemian style, San Miguel de Allende, Chapala and Ocotlan would be there for you. If you want to know more about Mexico and its culture, Mexico City is the place to go.

Most coastal places in Mexico tend to be warm and the father south you go the warmer it gets. Places like Manzanillo in the state of Colima and Puerto Vallarta are all good but the water is usually a bit cooler but ambient temperature is the high 80s, if you travel farther down to Cancun it tends to be a bit wrmer there. Then again it is more expensive.
