Not totally sure with a '97, but the blinker on my '98 is located on the passenger side, under the dash. Not sure exactly where I saw it (I remember seeing it when I took out my dash to replace my heater core), but I am positive it's on that side.
Check the bulb, it could be blown.

GM says no. it only interchanges with the 97
The 95 pump won't pump enough pressure to run the 97 engine. 2 different pumps. MUST use a 97 pump.
If they turn on but don't blink, you probably need to replace the signal flasher relay.
