The block heater is on the passenger side below the turbo
The block heater, on your 2001 C 15 Caterpillar diesel engine, can be removed by loosening the retaining nut. The block heater will easily come out. Reverse the process to install the new heater.

Disclaimer: I haven't worked specifically with the C13, but I've worked with several other models of Cat engines (and would never own anything made after the 6NZ, personally). In my experience, they've been in the side of the block on the left hand side of the engine, maybe just slightly past the center point going towards the front of the engine.
Depends on which year you're referring to for the Cat C13... after 2004, Cats went downhill... after 2007, they really took a dive. You definitely don't want an ACERT or SDP Cat.
The real question would be WHICH 475 Cat motor? 475 is just a horsepower rating - The C13 and C15 were both available at that horsepower rating.
Varies by engine. A Cummins will run about 40 at idle, whereas a PACCAR MX will run about 80.
all made by international
The most common cause of a Caterpillar see 13 diesel engine not starting and producing and a lot of white smoke is a bad camshaft. A plugged air filter can also cause the same problem.
Did you overfill the oil?
It can, if the substrate breaks free from inside the body of the cat, it can block the outlet pipe. If the exhaust can not get out, the engine will stall.
You need to specify which model Caterpillar motor you have. 455 is just a horsepower rating - several models were available with a 455 horsepower rating, to include the 3406B, 3406E, C12, C13, and C15.
