All veins carry blood back to the heart. Pulmonary means associated with the lungs. So the pulmonary vein carries blood from the lungs back to the heart. This blood is oxygenated and enters the heart in the chamber called the left atrium.

All other veins in the body carry deoxygenated blood, and this can lead to confusion.

Pulmonary vein takes the oxygenated blood to the left atrium chamber of the heart. Then the blood goes into left ventricle and then through aorta to all over the body.

Where does blood from the heat enter the lungs?

Through the pulmonary vein

What is the name of the vein that carries blood from the lungs to the heart?

Artery - always carries blood FROM the heart Vein - always carries blood TO the heart The vein which brings blood to the heart from the lungs is the PULMONARY VEIN ('pulmonary' = lungs). The one carrying blood away from the heart to the lungs is the pulmonary artery. Easy.

How does oxygenrich blood travel from the heart to capillaries around the body?

through your pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein.

Is the right side of the pulmonary vein oxygenated?

Yes, the blood coming through the plumonary vein can from the lungs.

Where does the pulmonary vein distribute blood to?

The pulmonary vein carries blood from the lungs to the right atrium. This blood is oxygen-rich.

How does the pulmonary vein bring oxygenated blood to the heart?

Your body picks up oxygen in your lungs. Your right ventricle pumps blood through your pulmonary artery to your lungs. Your blood picks up oxygen in your lungs. From there, it needs to get to the rest of your body. How can it do that? Something has to send it there. Let's send it through a vein to the heart. Maybe we can get the heart to send the oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. The pulmonary vein brings oxygenated blood from the lungs back to the heart. Then the heart takes that blood and pumps it through arteries to the rest of the body. After the oxygen leaves the blood it returns by way of veins. Under what conditions would a vein contain oxygenated blood?

What does a pulmonary artery carry that a pulmonary vein doesn't?

The pulmonary artery carries oxygen-poor blood. The pulmonary vein carries oxygen-rich blood.

Where does the pulmonary vein move blood to and from?

The pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood away from the lungs, to the left atrium of the heart.

How many heart valves would a blood cell travelling from the renal vein the the pulmonary vein pass through?

Two, the blood will flow into the right atrium through the tricuspid valve (#1) into the right ventricle. The right ventricle will contract and send the blood through the pulmonary semilunar valve (#2) to the lung. The blood will return through the pulmonary vein but will not pass through any more heart valves until it passes the left atrium.

Nutrient rich blood is returned back to the atrium through?

I think it is the Pulmonary Vein.

Does blood flow have to go through the pulmonary vein before it goes back to the heart?

Yes. The pulmonary vein brings oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left atrium of the heart. Once it passes through the bicuspid valve, the left atrium will then pump the blood through the rest of your body.
