if you follow the shaft from the break petal up with your hand you will feel two switches behind the steering column. The most accesible one is the switch for the cruise control. if you feel right next to it you will find the break light switch. On the break pedal shaft there are two plastic grommets that fit in the holes that make contact with the break switch. Sometimes they break apart and fall out. The autoparts store can give you new ones that you can pop back into the holes on the break pedal or you could epoxy a couple pennies to it. But the plastic grommets are easier.
