The cabin air filter is located behind the glove compartment. It is really easy to access, just remove the side clips holding the glove compartment into the console and unhook the elastic string that serves as a guide when you open the glove compartment. It should take no more than 10 minutes to replace the air filter and you'll save a large amount of money doing it yourself. I had two Hyundai service shops quote $99 and $79.95 to change out the cabin air filter. I purchased a new filter for $20 at a Hyundai service parts dealer where I had my oil change and installed it myself.

2000 sonata glsv6- Open glove box. On the right side you will see a rectangular piece of plastic that enters the box thru a hole. This is the closing retractor. Pull it in, then back it out of the hole and let go. On both sides of the box you will see a plastic square. These are the rubber stops. Pry up the front of these tabs then slide them towards you, and wiggle the stops thru and into the box. Now the box flops down all the way. On the bottom you will see a metal hinge. Remove the two bolts and two Phillips screws. On the top, remove the two Phillips screws and the nut in the center. The box will stay attached by the wiring to the box lamp and lamp plunger, so be carefull not to yank it away. Whew! You are now looking at heating shroud. In the center there is a lid over the filter. It runs vertically and is removed by pulling down on a plastic clip that is part of the lid. It is on the bottom. Pull it down and the two tabs at the top will come out of their mounts. The filter is then pulled out by its center tab handle. Vaccuum the area, insert new filter ($11.00 on sale at NAPA). Reverse installation. Now wasn't that fun!

Well I'm thinking that most manufacturers keep the cabin air filter in the same place. I have a 1999 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 and the cabin air filter in that car is back behind the glove box....if I am right about this your cars air filter should be in the same place...but if it's not there I would call the dealership and talk to them about it.
