not sure about a 96 but on the 2000 it is under the rotor in the distributor. see if you have a wire coming out under the back of the distributor cap. if you do then it will be attached to a plastic ring and that is your camshaft position sensor. the parts stores call it a pick up coil and you will save a lot of money there instead of going to the stealership. to replace all you need to do is remove the distributor cap and rotor then lift up the sensor, unplug and install the new one. don't pinch the wire with the cap when you put the new one in.
A 1996 Dodge Ram does not use a mass airflow sensor. It has a MAP sensor mounted in front of the throttle body.
Top of the rear axle.
Oil pressure
The transmission temperature sensor on a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 is located on the driver's side of the transmission. It is just behind the bell housing. Look for a gold plug with a black plastic top.
There is not 1 on that year. They were NOT used untill 1996
In the exhaust, front of catalytic converter.
It is the two wire sensor on the lower rear driver side of the transmission.
That is on the tailshaft housing of the trans on the driver side.
2, one before and one after the catalytic converter.
On top of the transmission bellhousing near where it bolts to the engine.
Two wire sensor on the front passenger side of the intake manifold.
The cam sensor is the "pick up plate" in the distributor, under the rotor.
