It's on the side of the cambelt.

The camshaft position sensor is mounted on the front of the 5.9l engine. It is at the top of the timing cover, on the back of the flange.
The camshaft position sensor is located on the end of the cam. When you open the hood look at the piece that you put your oil into. Follow that all the way to the right and on the end you will see the sensor. All it is is two bolts and a plug.
On a 2004 Chevy Astro, the camshaft sensor is located in the front of the engine. It is on the left side of the timing cover behind the camshaft sensor.
CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS LOCATED AT REAR OF CYLINDER HEAD ON BOTH THE 2.0 AND 2.4. IT'S FARTHER BACK THAN THE IGNITION COIL, HIGHER UP THAN THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH.
The sensor is located directly above the crankshaft pulley. The camshaft sensor also connects with the crankshaft position sensor.
the camshaft sensors are located on the back of the heads under the air cleaner duct.
It is mounted on the passenger side/right side in the timing cover. one bolt holds it in place.
