Catalytic converters are located up towards the front of the exhaust system - typically right after the pipe comes down off the engine's exhaust manifolds.
If the vehicle has a single exhaust system, there will be a "Y-pipe" bringing the two exhaust manifold pipes together - the catalytic converter will be just past this.
If the car has dual exhaust, there will be a catalytic converter for each.
How many catalytic converter are on a 2005 Ford Taurus

YesYes
Converter warranties seem to be 8 years or 80,000 miles.
Underneath the vehicle mounted between the engine and the muffler.
Yes, the Taurus can run without the catalytic converter--it is not necessarily good for the engine, but disconnecting it will cause it to fail emissions testing. If you've seen the Honda Civics running around smoking like a factory, this is caused by no electrolytic converter. The O2 sensor could be in the exhaust pipe between the manifold and converter.
They are required for smog.
No, it will not run correctly and besides it is illegal to remove the converter.
There are not two catalytic converters. Working towards the muffler from the flange, you have a RESONATOR, a CATALYTIC CONVERTER and finally a MUFFLER.
My 96 Ford Taurus gl OHV had 2 when I pulled the exhaust off to replace the tyranny.
It would be mounted in the exhaust pipe downstream of the catalytic convertor Helpfull
I don't think are multiple types of catalytic converters. What might be different could be where it's located - dependent on if your car has single exhaust pipe versus dual exhaust pipe system.
