Ford does not willingly divulge such information even to mechanics in their own dealerships, in any case the module is "flashed" from a Ford specific scanner {NGS new generation star tester} with the correct up to date software card, the security module can be an integral part of the PCM {Power train control module} the GEM module {generic electronic control module, there are also body control modules, and in some cases the vehicle security is controlled by the instrument cluster module, all are accessed by the Ford specific scanner and even the best of aftermarket scanners cannot access the security centre or reflash it, to the best of my knowledge. When taking Ford training on this stuff, the course is called Pats training {passive anti theft system} If you would like to discuss this further I can be contacted directly at dadunn1105@shaw.ca
In the Jack compartment on a 1996
The computer module for the keyless entry system on the 2006 Ford Explorer is behind the rear passenger seat. It is located under the seat belt panel.
The powertrain control module is visible from the engine compartment. It is in the firewall on the passenger side. The RAP module for your keyless entry/keypad is in the jack storage compartment.
It is in the side pocket were the jack is stored, just over the drivers rear wheel well.
In a 1998 Ford Explorer : The RAP module ( Remote Anti-theft Personality module ) is used with your anti-theft system and your keyless remotes ( each vehicle with keyless entry has it's own factory code )
I found the computer module (w/ the keyless entry factory code) on my 2003 Ford Explorer XLT behind and just below the rear passenger side seatbelt panel. Not sure if it's in the same location on the Sport model but it's worth a shot. Carefully remove the seatbelt panel (shoulder portion) and dislodge the top portion of the panel below it. The black computer module with the keyless entry code should be easily visible.
It's in the storage compartment in the cargo area , on the driver side , where the wheel jack is kept
The ignition switch, also called the wireless control module, is the keyless entry computer and receiver.
The keyless entry module, on your Ford automobile, is located in the engine compartment. The module is bolted to the firewall.
where on my 2004 freeport can I find the computer module
The powertrain control module (PCM) is visible from the engine compartment. It is in the firewall on the passenger side. The rap module for your keyless entry should be in your jack storage compartment (at least it is on the 4 door)
