On the 4.0 L - OHV - V6 engine , follow the top radiator hose from the radiator to the
engine where the thermostat housing is . There should be 2 coolant temperature
sending units . I believe the smaller one on the left ( looking from the front ) is for
your engine coolant temperature gauge and the larger one on the right is for the
EEC - V system
The sensor is threaded into the coolant passage in the back of the cylinder head.
The ECT or the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor is a switch. This switch is located on the bottom of the radiator in the 1996 Camry.

That would depend on which temeprature sensor you are asking about. Is it the coolant temperature sensor or the air charge tenerature sensor you are asking about?
Could be the coolant temperature sensor.

The location of the coolant temperature on the 1996 Honda Passport is actually behind the alternator. You can see the sensor in any Haynes or Chilton's manual for that vehicle year.
unscrew old unit screw in new unit.
To the left of the thermostat housing, It screews into the intake water jacket.
It is the two wire sensor next to the thermostat housing.
Could be thermostat opening and closing adjusting to coolant temperature Could be a bad temperature sensor
On my 1995 Ford Explorer - 4.0 L - OHV - V6 , the intake air temperature sensor is in the big rubber air intake tube , facing to the rear , near the throttle body . A 1996 - V6 - should be the same
