The crankshaft sensor is mounted to either side of the front side or the back side of the engine depending on the engine type
on the rear of the engine just below the coils
Usually right above and in line with the crankshaft pulley

It is located in the front of the engine, above the oil filter, next to the starter. Your going to have to remove the starter for easier access to the sensor.
Generally speaking, the crankcase is the lower part of the engine. It's where the crankshaft connects to the piston rods. If you drop the oil pan and look inside, you'll be looking at the crankshaft and the bottoms of the piston connecting rods.
