Everything's pretty much accessible, however I'm not sure about a fill "plug". When I had to put tranny fluid in mine, I used the dipstick tube and filled it that way (my mechanic said that was fine). I went out and took a picture of the tranny drain plug location. Hope this helps. It's closer to the drivers side than the passenger side (might be hard to tell from the pic).

The automatic transmission does not have a drain. You remove the pan to drain.
Remove the Ford Ranger automatic transmission drain plug. The drain plug is in the bottom of the transmission. Allow the oil to drain out and replace the plug. Fill the transmission with new transmission fluid.
