ECU is also known as an 02 or oxygen sensor. On most 4 cylinder cars there is usually two, one by the manifold or header pipe, and one underneath the car just before the catalytic converter. Usually somewhere between 70-100,000 miles, they get plugged and then your check engine light comes on. The first and cheapest remedy is to switch to a tank of premium gas and also add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. If that doesnt make it do away, then disconnect the battery for about 5 hours. tHIS will clear out the computer memory. Then reconnect the battery and hope it doesnt come back on.

If it does, you will need to replace (you may as well have both done at once so you don't have to go through this same thing twice) the 02 sensor. You can pick them up at the parts store for about $90 each, and it will take about 30 minutes to install.

Sometimes they need to be heated up to get them out because they may be stuck.

Good luck/
