I do never found out where the engine number was on a 2007 Suzuki Grand vitara but I did find out you can call the dealer and give them your VIN number and they can give you an engine number.
on a lhd its on the left rear edge of the engine block. this may be reversed for rhd.

Hi I dont know if you are in SA, but in America they dont come out with an engine number! In SA they put the number on the driverside of the engine on the block next to the engine mounting bracket. It is very difficult to spot and you will be looking for a dotmatrix number! Duane
