The firing order for the 4JX1 3.0L turbo diesel fitted to the 2003 Isuzu Trooper is 1-3-4-2
It provides the vacuum to operate the brake booster and the shift on the fly system.
If it is the WL turbo engine it is located right under the turbo
It is located in the air filter box.
If it's not the regular turbo scream from the high rpm turbine it might be the blades hitting the housing and the shaft bushing in the turbo might be worn out. Take off the in going air hose on the turbo, the one that comes from the filter. You can now get to the end of the shaft in side the turbo and feel for play by pulling gently up and down. There shouldn't be much play. If it gets really bad a turbo blade can break and get sucked in to the engine. Not a lot of fun. Have the turbo rebuild before it gets too noisy.
Once you remove the pan, you'll see it.

The fuel filter on a 2000 S40 turbo is located under the driver side rear. It is close to the gas tank. The lines are held in place by squeze(sp) clamps. The filter is located behind the rear tire.
