The filter is in the tank, part of the fuel pump module.Answera good possibility is that your 01 is set up the same way as my 97 and in that case, the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump. i haven't taken mine apart yet to find out if i can clean the filter or if it actually needs to be replaced, but if it does require replacement, i know that it costs around $230 from an auto parts store.

Cabin filter--Your 01 Passat should be the same as my 99. In front of the windshield under the hood there is a compartment across the back of the engine bay with the battery in the middle. On the right is the engine management module and on the left is the cabin filter. My vehicle is RHD but I don't think that this layout changes between LHD and RHD versions. You will soon be able to identify the filter as the container is held closed by only a single screw with a big washer (about an inch and a quarter in diameter). Open it up and you'll find the filter inside. Fuel filter--Now I'm not sure about the fuel filter but maybe someone else will help out here. I think that it is probably part of the fuel pump assembly. If I'm right then it will require you to take out the back seat and unscrew the fuel pump. Wait on this one until someone else can confirm this. I will try to find this info for you in the meantime.
