It looks like a small canister. It will be located either on your firewall under the hood or will be back by your gas tank. If the lines are rusty, use some WD40 on the threads before you begin. Best of luck on your project.

There is no such thing as a 1995 subaru outback, the outback package was not offered on a subaru legacy until 1996, you either have a 1996 subaru outback, or you have a 1995 subaru Legacy L or LSI wagon. Both will be covered in most guide books you can pick up at your local autoparts store.

place the thermostat with the pointed facing out-ward away for the motor.
well i have a 97 legacy but if you have a 2.2 ltr engine then it will b in the same spot. my thermostat is located where the bottom rad hose goes into the engine block. if u look u should c the thermostat housing there with 2 bolts holding it in place.
