I have a 96 f-150 which was the last year of your bodystyle in the f-150 varient. My fuel filter canister on the passenger side between the wheels
bolted to the frame rails. I would assume since they are nearly identical
trucks that I would start there.
It could either have a gasoline engine or a diesel engine
Yes , the Ford 5.4 liter / 330 cubic inch V8 engine is a gasoline engine
The 1997 Ford F2 50 cabin air filter is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The cabin air filter will be on the passenger side of the firewall.
According to the 2004 Ford F-250 Owner Guide : With engine oil filter change : The 5.4 liter gasoline V8 engine takes : ( 6.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )
6 quarts ( 5.7 liters ) WITH ENGINE OIL FILTER CHANGE - according to the 1997 Ford F-250 light duty owners manual for the 5.4 L - V8 engine
Look under the hood behind the air cleaner Mine is on top of the engine, under that weird cover you would expect the throttle body to be on a gasoline engine. You have to lift a lid that reveals a circular screw top that when unscrewed holds the fuel filter in a bath of diesel fuel. I'm sure there's a second filter somewhere, maybe that's the one somewhere behind the air cleaner????
