IF you are referring to the diesel motor, there are 2 fuel filters on it. 1 is located on the top front of the motor just behind the cold air intake for the turbo. Easiest way to change this one is to remove the Power Steering reservoir and bracket that holds it on. Then remove the wiring harness from the frame. You can then use a 15/16 wrench to remove the top cap to reveal the filter.
There is a second filter/water separator located on the drivers side frame just behind the oil filter canister. As far as I can find, this is a 25 MM wrench

All fuel sending units are located in the fuel tank.
You'll need a wheel chock, catch pan. a fuel line tool and a new fuel filter.

It's a inline fuel filter. It looks like a small canister. You will see when you buy it at the parts store.

My 2004 Nissan Titan has no fuel filter.
On the 2004 ford explorer the fuel filter is located under the vehicle on the passenger side near the front of the gas tank, just behind the catalystic converter. There is a metal heat shield that must be removed before you can access the filter. After removing the heat shield there is a plastic protectant shield that must be removed, then you can get to the fuel filter.
