It should be at the fuel fitting to the carburetor, or more specifically, inside or behind the fitting. It's a small pleated cylinder that can only be removed by removing the fuel line first.
BTW, it's either a 5.0 or a 350. The 5.0 is a 305, the 350 is a 5.7. Make sure of your engine before starting.
You will need a 16mm for the small fuel line fitting and a 1" for the larger one. make sure that you have a wrench on both and be carefull that you dont twist the fuel line as it can rust together with the fittings

I am working on a similar truck, a Chevy Astro van. The fuel filter for it is mouinted on the l/s frame rail in front of the leaf spring mount. Hope this helps
