the fuel filter is on the drivers side in a round can below the intake boost tube
Obviously I can't speak for ALL 'cummins'....you didn't specify a year.... My 2006 24V cummins though.... The fuel filter (as you face the windshield from the front of the truck), is on the right side of the motor, a round 'can' looking contraption...about 6-7" in diameter, standing horizontal. It has a black 'cap'.
If you know much about the motor...then you know that each cylinder has an injector line....that's the individual steel lines that are going to each injector on the drivers' side of the motor. Follow those tubes back to the 'common rail'....where they all originate. From there, you can follow the pressure line which feeds that rail back to the filter housing....again...a can-shaped device, about 6-7" in diameter, with a black cap (the top of which has a design somewhat like the spokes of a wheel...those are designed for rigidity so that you don't break the cap when removing it). Hope that helps somewhat...even though the description kinda sucked.
Mopar, Wix, Cummins.
Yes, it has a screen/filter sock on it.
There is a screen in the tank, and a cartridge filter on the side of the block.
