Find your fuel lines entering the manifold (right behind where the air enters the manifold)...the pressure regulator is on the bottom side of that cluster*%$. You will need to remove the upper manifold to reach it and change the regulator.
Have you tried spraying gas intothe breather. Does it have tbi or multi-port? How about the fuel regulator. How much pressure does the fuel rail have ?
The 2001 Cavalier has the regulator built into the alternator. As this is an integrated component the alternator and regulator are changed as a single unit.
