The 1998 Subaru 2.0 liter turbo engine has a rated horsepower of 180. The horsepower can be increased by adjusting the fuel pump.
With very few exceptions, fuel injected vehicles have the pump in the fuel tank.
Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.
It is inside the fuel tank.
The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump. It is servicable, but you have to remove the fuel pump assembly (accessible from under the rear seat).
Fuel Pump most likely.
Pull the lever with the gas pump symbol located just in front of the drivers seat.
All modern fuel injected cars have fuel pump in the gas tank. Ain't no picnic changing any of them.
The filter is in the fuel pump assembly under the rear seat, however, it is not replaceable or user serviceable. The maintenance schedule's have not been updated to reflect this.
The Subaru Impreza does not have a fuel pump inertia switch. If you are having fuel issues it could be the fuel pump relay or fuel pump.
Every fuel injected vehicle that I am aware has the fuel pump inside the gas tank. Subaru is no exception. --Ken
