Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.
With very few exceptions, fuel injected vehicles have the pump in the fuel tank.
It is inside the fuel tank.

Fuel Pump most likely.
Pull the lever with the gas pump symbol located just in front of the drivers seat.
The Subaru Impreza does not have a fuel pump inertia switch. If you are having fuel issues it could be the fuel pump relay or fuel pump.

The filter is in the fuel pump assembly under the rear seat, however, it is not replaceable or user serviceable. The maintenance schedule's have not been updated to reflect this.
