The fuel filter is on the firewall of the drivers side under the hood. It is on the bottom half of the firewall.

If it is not located somewhere between the fuel tank and the engine, then it is in the fuel tank. Follow the fuel lines to find it.

The fuel pump in a 1993 Escort is located in the fuel pump. There should be an access plate under the rear seat to get to the top of the fuel tank for pump removal.
the 1998 ford escort does not have a fuel pressure regulator. It does however, have a fuel pressure sensor located on the fuel injector rail. It has a connector attached to it and can be removed by taking out the attaching screws and twisting and tugging on it.
