If you're referring to the 5.7L V-8 there is no fuel rail per se, rather, the 1997 Chevy Vortec motors have a fuel "block" called a 'Spider Injector' roughly 2 " x 5" x 3" located inside the two halves of the intake manifold. all 8 of your injectors are connected to this block with plastic tubing. To replace it you will have to remove the upper (plastic) portion of your intake manifold.

It is INSIDE the fuel tank. In 2004 chevy moved the fuel filter from inside of the drivers FRAME RAIL to the fuel tank.
It is mounted under the truck on the drivers side, to the inside of the frame rail, aprox under the drivers seat area.
In 2004 Chevy moved the fuel filter from the drivers side frame rail and believe it or not they put it inside of the fuel tank.
GM likes to put these on the ends of the fuel rails--- look there. If you see a device connected to the rail which has a vacuum hose attached to it, that's it. jb

It is inside the fuel tank. In 2004 GM. started putting the fuel filter inside the tanks and NOT on the frame rail.
