OPEN THE HOOD.LOOK AT THE LEFT SIDE FIREWALL (DRIVERS SIDE) AND YOU WILL SEE TWO KNOBS.THESE UNSCREW TO REMOVE THE FUSEBOX COVER.YOU WILL HAVE TO WIGGLE /TIP IT JUST RIGHT TO GET IT OUT. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW OLD THE FUSES ARE REPLACE THEM ALL. IF THEY ARE OLD THEY WILL GIVE YOU GRIEF.THESE TYPE OF FUSES CORRODE WITH AGE AND CAN BE INTACT BUT HAVE HIGH RESISTANCE.

Mercedes issued a bulletin to place an external fuse on the fender right near the fuse box. Its just over an inch long black plastic with a strip of metal in it. Doesnt really look like a fuse. If its an old mercedes, its probably not the fuse, but the motor. They wallow out their bushings and destroy the brushes. on the 300d its located in fuse box in the #8 slot, is a blue one 25 amp n0rt
