On the 2004 passat its a 15amp fuse, location 33 Cutaboy Here... On the 06 passat ... go to the passenger frontside (shotgun) use a screw driver to pull out the panel ... look for location 35 ... the fuse is (20) ... got this from the manual after reading everyones answers ... had to figure it out myself ... tested it ... worked perfectly ... I have an 2006 Passat and in my case there was no fuse on slot 35. I had to check every single fuse to determine which one was broken. After some time and lots of patience I found a 15 amp fuse that was broken... replaced it with a a 20 amp fuse and its all good. Now I can charge my phone. In my 2006 Passat 2.0T, the cigarette lighter fuse is in #43. That is the last but one row of the LEFT side instrument fuse box (fuse box A). I got the 11/2005 edition of Technical and Modifications manual. It says the cigarette lighter fuse is #35 in the right side instrument fuse box. This is an error.

Partial Answer: The Fuse Box is located under the dash on the driver's side. Plactic cover over the fuses. You will need the owner's manual to tell which fuse serves what..
