Its in the engine bay in your fuse/relay box.
The fuse location for the head lights on a 1996 Nissan is in the engine compartment. You will need to open the hood and look between the battery and the driver side.

Sounds like a tail light fuse is out. This fuse is often on the same cicuit as the dash lights so that when the tail light fuse blows out the driver is made aware of it by not being able to see the dash lights. The fuse panel is on the left kick panel near the driver's left leg and is accessed by opening a small plastic cover.
The fuse for hazard and signal lights on the Nissan Serena is in the fuse box, bottom row. The flasher fuse for hazard and signal lights is located in the dash just to the left of the radio.

There is another fuse box under the hood and next to the battery. This fuse controls the horn, dashboard lights, and the tail lights.

most of the time the dimmer switch on the 240sx goes out if you take off the switch and wire the 2 wires all the way the the driverside the gauge lights should work
