Vehicles usually have two types of Governors; one that electronically limits the vehicles speed and one that allows the automatic transmission to shift at the right speed.
The one that electronically limits the vehicle speed is usually internal to the PCM and cannot be removed, unless the PCM is reprogrammed. The other type is internal to the transmission, and is usually mounted on the tailshaft.
you can not turn off the governor you can have a new computer chip installed in the ecm and the truck will go alittle faster
It alows your truck to top out at a higher speed then it would with it on.
Buy a chevy
The govonor is a part of an automatic transmission.?
Not sure of your question but if it is does a truck have a governor the answer is loosely yes. Cars and trucks have computers that govern their top speed by shutting off the fuel supply when they reach a preset speed.
It limits the amount of travel for the throttle ... in other words, limits how fast the truck can travel down the road.
No, it's a matter of ECM programming.
The state will be electing a new governor this year. The truck has a governor, so it can't go any faster than 55 miles per hour.
Change speed? It has to be done at a shop. They plug computer to truck and change speed with the computer.
Speed is controlled by the ECU (Computer).
sticking governor,
Yes, plus it has to have software compatible with the motor.
