Where is the horn component located on a '98 Mazda Protege?
you have 2 horns' both close to the head litghts on left and right side
I have a 1993 Mazda protoge dx and was told the horn relay is bad where is it located and the haynes repair book wasn't any help at all?
There are three screws that hold the center of your steering wheel on. once you take these screws off you will see that the center of the wheel where the horn trigger is has but a piece of foam in it to keep the horn from going off after time the foam will break down replace the foam and you are good to go.
Replace the horn relay. Also look at the foam padding in the steering wheel,it may be worn out. My 99 escort had a stuck horn...pull out the foam switch in front of the air bag, move it around a little, clean the contacts, then test it with a multimeter to make sure it un-stuck itself. -Matt http://www.olszak.net
1998 Mazda Protege and the horn doesn't work All I hear is a clicking noise from under the glovebox How do you repair this?
I had the same problem with my Mazda but solved it very easily! Your horn is unplugged. Go under the hood and you might have to remove the lights on the side of the wiper fluid container youl see a little device with a arm for a mount and a metal dish looking thing bolted in center. THis is your horn There should be a wiring running to it. if you don't see one find…
Mine went bad, as well. I bought an Ah-ooga horn to put in. I finally located the horn, but am scratching my head over replacing it. Basically, it's just behind and below the left headlight (from the driver's seat), in the bumper cavity. It looks like quite a bit of stuff will have to be removed just to get to it. Not sure I want to tackle it.
