Since I once owned a 1978 Chevy pickup I can easily answer this question for you. You should be able to locate the horn behind the grill near the headlights. There are actually two horns, one on each side that is driver's side and passenger side. Each horn has a different tone one high and one a bit lower. It may take a couple of tries to get the right pitch once more but if you specify which horn you are replacing then getting the proper horn shouldn't be an issue. That is of course unless you're planning on replacing the horn with something completely different then this last bit of info is redundant. Cheers!

Check the contacts first to make sure they contacts. If they do, test horn.

The horn is located just behind the Chevy emblem on the front grill. Removing the top bolts from the grill will allow you to access the bracket that holds the horn in place. Be careful not to break the electrical connector when removing the horn.
Left side of the vehicle by the firewall, if memory serves me correctly.
