It's on the floor on the right side. If you follow a line that runs along the right side of the tractor beside your right foot you will see that it connects to a tube that goes into the metal case under the right corner of your seat.
On my tractor there is a rubber gasket with some clamps that keep the fluid from leaking out, but that can be removed so that I can disconnect the line sections and wiggle the portion that it under my seat and as I wiggle it I pull it toward the front of the tractor. It will come out of that case under the seat.
I haven't figured out where to drain the fluid so that it all doesn't come spilling out with the filter and onto the footrest.
I show 387 SBA 340500920 From my last invoice.

The hydraulic fluid capacity of Case IH MX 170 tractor is 25.5 gallons. It's important to use enough fluid or the transmission could be damaged.
The IH 460 D fluid is the hydraulic fluid. The tractor can overheat when the fluid gets low.
From the 1965 IH 504 manual it shows 13 gallons.
466 IHC 6 cyl Diesel for sure. You can upgrade this to two other types of fleetguard to apparently handle synthetic. the IH i have is a 3788 2+2 ant eater. But I am thinking it may be used on other smaller IH six's.
The oil capacity is 14 quarts.
