Ford makes a adaptor block that will allow you to add hydraulic circuits to the tractor. If you only need one or two circuits you can get a set of control valves that will mount in place of this block. Both will mount just under the front edge of the operator seat. Be warned the pump on the 4000 doesnt move a lot oil and the circuits may be slow. Other wise you can add a pump to the front of the engine or to the PTO on the rear. The front pump should be available from ford. The PTO pump is available at a lot of after market locations.
if the foot pedal is operated with the tractor off, the hydraulic fluid can leak back out of the power steering pump. work the wheel back and forth for a minute or two to get fluid back into the steering box. also, check the hydraulic fluid level.AnswerThere is a brass connector between the hydraulic pump and the PS pump.
