Dirty or failed idle control valve or carbon deposits in the throttle body.
Vacuum leak or IAC (idle air control) valve stuck/sticking.
Right below the throttle body with a plug going to it
on throttle body next to Idle control valve.
it should be threaded into the base of the throttle body.

Most likely a bad Idle Air Control valve. Could also be a vacuum leak.
85 - 92 it's located on the left side from in front of the engine just under the TPS sensor lower part of the throtle body
The IAC valve is on the back of the throttle body. It has 2 bolts on the back of it and a black cylinder on one end. The idle adjuster screw is on the front of the intake and has a couple cables running to it. Let your car fully warm up and turn the screw to adjust the idle.
dirty throttle body, dirty idle air control valve, or faulty idle air control valve, plugged air filter. Check you air fitler first then take the air hose off and clean the throttle body on the inside(open the throotle by hand when doing this) putting evrything back and see. If still low your IAC valve might be bad.
