the intake manifold is located on top of the engine, the piece that look like the tubbing is intertwining.
I have a 2002 Pontiac Gramd Am and its in the shop right now getting the Intake Manifold Gasket fixed on it! Its about $2000 with labor costs and everything! Rediculous! Its supposidly VERY common in these vehicles....They should do a re-call!
remove the air filter pan assembly and the 15-20 intake bolts clean gasket area replace n re bolt down
The removal and reinstallation of an intake manifold on this FWD transverse application is of Êhigh difficulty. The first steps are disconnecting wiring harnesses, and brackets obstructing the manifold bolts. Once the manifold bolts are off, the factory gaskets should be removed and surfaces cleaned off. The manifold can be run through a parts cleaner to dissolve carbon deposits. The new gasket and sealer as needed should be applied. The manifold can be replaced and re-torqued. The final steps are reconnecting wiring harnesses, restarting and checking for leaks.
Carefully tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern to 45 inch pounds. Then re-tighten them to 83 inch pounds.
Try disconnecting the battery for a minute or 2 and then re-connect. This sometimes clears the codes in the engine control modules.
If it is the intake manifold, there will be vacuum leaks, backfire, and poor performance. If it is the exhaust manifold, you will have loud exhaust noise which may warrant a citation - also, emissions control laws will be violated. Take the manifold ro a shop where it can be re-surfaced or try to find a product at your local auto parts store that will help seal the manifold. - Good luck.
Its under the intake manifold. Buy a repair manual and have at it. If your-re a decent wrench and have plenty of tools you can do it. Dealer wants about $1200 to do it. Starter costs about $250
Changing/altering the intake manifold, header, exhaust, and pulleys would yield you immediate improvements. The cheapest route to start is changing the intake manifold, from changing from a stock filter to a high performance re-usable filter all the way to a cold-air intake is one way. From there, changing the other components (header, exhaust, pulleys) will also cost more as you go along.
You don't. Pulling those bolts often leads to breaking them which leads to re-tapping the block to get a new manifold on, which will just do the same thing once it ages a year or so. It is a poor design, I ended up welding mine on to shut it up. :/
its the valve on the right side. mounted on the intake manifold. if u remove it and clean it realy good, you can re-use it and it will fix the irratic high/low idle.
no not even slightly the maxima is a front wheel drive v6, the q50 is a rear wheel drive v8, the maxima and j30's a re very similar but still not the same either
By intake, I assume you mean intake manifold? Typically if your intake manifold gasket is leaking, it can have one if not several of these signs. First your Engine typically will run or idle rough, due to a vacuum leak. You could see visual signs of exhaust, anti-freeze, and or oil leakage. On some Engines you might even see your oil and anti-freeze getting mixed together in your oil pan. You also could see white exhaust fumes out of your vehicle's tail pipe, due to anti-freeze in your exhaust system. These are just a few of the signs of a leaky manifold. If you re-ask the question with make, model, and engine size I could answer with more precise answers.
