The remote anti-theft personality module ( what a name ! ) for your keyless entry system is in your jack storage compartment. It is at the front of the compartment.
These models (1996 and 1997 I know about) do not have keyless entries when they come of the production line. If one does, it is dealer installed. The box can be found under the instrument panel, somewhere behind the parking brake pedal.
Above your rearview mirror there should be a small black 'ball' (extending from the roof of the car). That is your module. If it's not there, I'm not sure if your Jeep has it. You can always refer to the owner's manual (you can snag one from eBay cheap if you don't already have it) or drop by your Jeep dealership to have them find out for you. Hope this helps!
In the Jack compartment on a 1996
open the trunk and look on the underside there should be a sticker with the code on it If not there, look for the keyless entry module, usually inthe trunk, on the back of the back seat. It will have the code on it.
To program a remote keyless entry on 1996 Chevrolet pickup, first hold down the power unlock button of the door panel. Second, turn ignition key ON, OFF, ON, OFF. Then release power unlock button on the door panel.
yes it has a keyless entry. I just bought one for my LHS '96 from e-bay. just type 'keyless entry for Chrysler lhs 1996" on Google. yes it has a keyless entry. I just bought one for my LHS '96 from e-bay. just type 'keyless entry for Chrysler lhs 1996" on Google.
Each remote takes ( 2 ) coin style 3 volt lithium batteries ( # 2016 )
Try it manually, with the actual key. If it opens that way, then the remote sending unit is defective.
Try: http://www.programyourremote.com/ It has instructions for 1997-2000 models, perhaps they'll work with the 1996 model. Good luck!
Yes, some of the 1996 Dodge 1500s did come with keyless entry. It was not standard equipment.
