The only usable tools on the Nanobot training are the cannon and the laser blade, and the laser lets you get shot or damaged in a collision anyway. In the game, you have 4 tools, and only the laser scalpel has a dual use: you cut through (some) blockages and can kill the small viruses. The coagulator and electrobolt have fixed uses. The cannon shoots viruses, but also clears food collections in the intestines.
