disconnect battery, disconnect the starter, disconnect the starter mount bracket from the engine and you can access the egr valve no need to lower the engine good luck
you unbolt the rear of the subframe andlet it down enough to take out the rear engine mount

Follow the UPPER Radiator hose from the radiator to the inlet port (aluminum casing with 2 mount bolts on the DRIVERS SIDE [ or rear of motor ] on a 4 cylinder engine). Remove the 2 mount bolts to remove the thermostat housing & the thermostat will be under before mentioned housing.
The easiest engine swaps for a 240sx would be an sr20det or a ca18det as these require no modification to the motor mount location.
If they are square, YES!. If they are round, NO!. In 1989, Toyota did a mid year crossmember/engine mount change. The square ones will fit '86 to '89. The round ones will fit '89 to '92.
The engine mount holds the engine in place.
the way it is explained in the manual does not specify the number of mounts, but in the illistration it looks like the right passanger side has 3 bolts and 2 nuts securing the mount bracket to the engine bracket and mount to chassis nuts. the rear engine mount has 2 nuts(with rubber plugs). the front engine mount has 2 nuts on the chassis brace and 3 nuts on the chassis. also,if you have airconditioning,remove therefrigerant line bracket nut and remove the mount from the engine compartment.
If it's a v-6 the oil pressure switch is at the front of the engine below the alternator mount.
Look visually; start engine and note worse vibration location. Sometimes , with engine cooled, shake engine by hand at different locations and note any looseness.
