After the airfilter housing , look for something plugged into the hose to the throttle body or the bottom of the filter housing , it should have two wires going to it.
check your mass air flow sensor. Im having the same problem right now with my 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix & i had a mechanic tell me it was my mass air flow sensor.
it is attached to the throttle body the left side of it should have i think 3 wires coming out of it
It should be located on the air intake hose before the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Hope this helps.RR Of The Engine Compartment
The mass air flow is located inside the intake tube. there is a largish black plastic box on the right side of the engine. It connects to a black tube, there should be a bundle of 2-4 wires coming out if the tube connected to the sensor. This is the setup on my 98 and my 2000 grand prix's both with the 3800 ones supercharged and one is not. Not sure if your year is different but i assume they are the same
P0102 on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Dam indicates there is an issue with the Mass Air Flow sensor. This can occur if the Mass Air Flow sensor has disconnected or the wiring is faulty. First, you will need to inspect the wires to be sure none of them are frayed or damaged. If you are still receiving the error, remove the sensor and apply brake cleaner. If all else fails, the sensor will need to be replaced.
It is located just before the mass air flow sensor on the rubber intake hose on top and right before the bend towards the intake aproximatly 3.5-4 inches befor the maf sensor
your mass air flow sensor is located at the top of your air filter where it connects to the engine. to replace it you remove the two screws unplug the sensor and pull it out and just reconnect the new one in.
no MAP sensor, just mass air flow sensor
To replace the mass air flow (MAF) sensor on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Locate the MAF sensor, which is typically found between the air filter and the throttle body, and disconnect the electrical connector and the clamps or screws holding it in place. Remove the old sensor and install the new one, making sure it is secured properly before reconnecting the electrical connector and the battery. Finally, start the engine to ensure the new sensor is functioning correctly.
My 2000 grand am has the 3.4l engine also and it also revved up on its own, the problem was the map flow sensor was full of dust. the mechanic said he pulled it out blew out the dust and put it back in. My car runs so much better I gained hp & mpg
A 1996 Jeep does not have a mass airflow sensor.
yes
