Regardless of the year the mintmark is in the same place on all Morgan silver dollars, it's on the reverse just above the letters DO in dollar. If it does not have a mintmark it was coined in Philadelphia no Morgan dollar has a "P" mintmark.
One dollar unless it has the mintmark "S" underneath the date.
In the US only coins have mintmarks.
There are several common dollar coins, all of them have mintmarks in different locations. The Morgan Dollar (1878-1921) have mintmarks on the reverse above the D and O in Dollar. The Peace Dollar (1921-1935) have mintmarks on the reverse under the ONE in "ONE DOLLAR" on the coin. The Eisenhower (Ike) Dollar (1971-1978) has the mintmark on the obverse ("heads") of the coin, above the 7 and the last digit of the date. The Susan B. Anthony Dollar (1979-1999) has the mintmark to the left side of Susan B Anthony's neck. Sacagawea Dollars (2000-present) either have the mintmark on the obverse under Sacagawea's head under the date, or on the edge lettering on some of the more recent coins. And Presidential Dollars (2007-present) have the mintmark on the edge lettering. Keep in mind that on some of the older coins, there may not be a mintmark because only recently did the "P" mintmark come into use for Philadelphia, if your coin has no mintmark and is one of the older coins, the coin was minted in Philadelphia.
A mintmark (coins produced at the Philadelphia mint have no mintmark) is above the bell on the reverse of the coin.

With a date of 1922 the coin is a PEACE dollar and the mintmark can only be a D or S not an O. Values are $16.00-$24.00 for circulated coins regardless of mintmark.
A is not a mintmark used on US coins. Check the mintmark again and post a new question.

Mintmark's are used on coins, they do not have "proof marking's". The 1887 Morgan dollar without a mintmark was struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
If you are asking about a presidential or Sacagawea dollar, the dates, mintmark and motto are on the edge of the coins.
If it has one, it's under the date. For this year, only proof coins have a mintmark.
Coins without mintmarks were minted in Philadelphia. The P mint mark was first used on WWII-era nickels and didn't become permanent on dollar coins until 1979.
